The Foss Waterway, adjacent to downtown Tacoma, is the Pacific Northwest's newest mixed-use waterfront community. We are in the heart of the growing Puget Sound area, just 35 miles south of Seattle.

The Foss Waterway Development Authority (FWDA) is the coordinating agency for the waterfront's development. Through our established relationships with regulatory agencies we can be advocates for developers.

The Tacoma City Council formed the seven-member Foss Waterway Development Authority Board in 1996 to oversee property development and marketing of the publicly-owned Foss Waterway property.

Since then, FWDA's efforts have set precedents in planning, engineering and other development activities in cooperation with regulatory agencies. Public input has been implemented. City leaders have streamlined building permit guidelines. It all says a positive "welcome" to developers.

Today the FWDA sells or leases Foss Waterway property for development. We also manage leasehold properties and business interests on our own properties. If you have a question, some news about the waterway, or if you can't find what you're looking for, please call us at (253) 597-8122.
